SURAT THANI, Feb 21 (TNA) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha has visited Samui Island and presided over the opening of an underground pipe system, supplying tap water to this tourist island in order to solve water shortage in the dry season.
His schedule was delayed for one and a half hour due to failure in a propeller of the C-130 aircraft, so the pilot returned to the Bangkok air base to change to the new aircraft.
The premier was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Chatchai Sarikulya, Interior Minister Gen. Anupong Paochinda, Natural Resources and Environment Minister, Gen Surasak Kanjanarat, Tourism and Sports Minister, Weerasak Kowsurat.
Gen. Prayut presided over opening the tap water supply system through an underground pipe to Samui Island and witnessed giving a land document for villagers to make use of the land under the land reform scheme.
He also visited Langsat local fruit orchards and famous local products of Samui.
He then travelled from Surat Thani province to Krabi province to present the symbol flag of Thailand Biennale, a biannual international contemporary art exhibition from Krabi to the next host, Nakhon Ratchasima province.
He will see an art exhibition and artworks of local artists before returning to Bangkok at 7.30 pm. (TNA)
