CHAING MAI, Jan 25 (TNA) – The northern province of Chiang
Mai will hold the annual strawberry festival in Samoeng district,
the country’s largest growing areas of high quality strawberry.
Deputy Chiang Mai governor, Wirun Panthewee said the
18th strawberry festival will run from Feb 6-10 at the Agricultural
Productivity Efficiency Increasing Learning Center in Bor Kaew sub-district.
The event will promote tourism and premium farm
products in Samoeng, which encompasses about 1,560 acres of strawberry plantations.
Most of the products are the tasty Prarachatan 80 variety, developed under the
royal project.
In Bor Kaew sub-district alone, about 1,120 acres of
strawberry plantations produce more than 10,000 tonnes of strawberries each
year, resulting in economic value of several hundred million baht.
It is also expected that at least ten million baht
will be circulated during the five-day festival. – (TNA)
