BANGKOK, Dec 12 (TNA) – A Thai tourist was killed in the shooting near a famous Christmas market in the eastern French city of Strasbourg, the Thai embassy in Paris has reported.
The embassy was contacted by the Association of Thai Students in France, asking for assistance to the Thai man, shot in the incident, said Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Busadee Santipitak.
He was identified as Anupong Suebsaman, 45. The man was on holiday with his wife.
The embassy provides assistance to his wife, who is now safe and given accommodation. The embassy staff will travel to Strasbourg today.
French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner on Wednesday said three people were killed and 23 people injured in the shooting. 350 security agents were hunting for the gunman, who fled the scene. The attack began at about 8 p.m. or 2 a.m. on Wednesday (Thailand’s time) (TNA)
