BANGKOK, Nov 22 (TNA) – Thailand hosted the Cyber SEA Games 2018 on Wednesday, in which Indonesia won the competition.
Contestants from 10 ASEAN countries participated in the competition. Indonesia won first place, followed by Thailand and Vietnam in second place and third place respectively
The winner will be the ASEAN representative to compete in the SECCON 2018, the international cyber security competition to be held in Japan from December 22-23.
Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) executive director Surangkana Wayuparb said the contest in Thailand will help develop personnel in cyber security as the ETDA aims at producing about 12,000 personnel in this field by 2021.
Apart from organizing the competition, ETDA also builds a network and hold activities to develop cyber security personnel in cooperation with educational institutes.
It has granted scholarships to lecturers and proposed educational institutes to add cyber security in the curriculum.
ETDA will also support the establishment of a cyber security park to draw foreign cyber security companies to invest in Thailand and the park will give opportunity for the country to develop experts in this field. (TNA)
