TRANG, Nov 2 (TNA) – A hospital in southern Thailand uses
black clay from a beach to relieve joint pain and body aches.
Hat Samran Hospital in Trang province has offered mud
therapy proven to have healing effects for joint pain and muscle disorder.
The mud from Hat Samran Beach used in the therapy has been
certified for its safety by Chiang Mai University and Prince Mahidol
University.
A 70-year-old patient, Laem Charoenrit, said he had tried to
chase away the stubborn shoulder joint pain by taking medication for many
months but to no avail. Until he
recently received the mud therapy course about two to three times a week, the
chronic pain had gone away.
Researchers are now working to develop soap and mud powder
from Hat Samran mud for commercial production.
