CHIANG MAI, Oct 13 (TNA) – Police from the Provincial Police Region 5 raided two luxury houses used to host online gambling at the centre of the northern province and two Chinese people were arrested there for administering the illegal gambling.
The houses are in San Phi Suea sub-district. The two arrested suspects were from mainland China and police found databases of worldwide Chinese gamblers at the houses.
There police seized 6 portable and desktop computers, 11 mobile phones, 7 internet routers and financial transaction devices, 7 electronic cards and 8 SIM cards.
The suspects confessed that they had arrived in Thailand as tourists and their Chinese boss rented the houses for them and hired them to run the illicit business for nearly 100,000 baht a month.
The business generated income worth equivalent to at least about 25,000 baht a day or over 700,000 baht a month, they said. (TNA)
