PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, July 2 (TNA) – Nine people have been
arrested for running an online gambling operation, mafia888.com, at five
locations in Hua Hin resort town.
The raids came after one of the gamblers embezzled 33.9
million baht from a local government office to pay debts from the illegal
gambling last month.
Police then obtained court warrants to raid five spots in
Hua Hin of Prachuap Khiri Khan province on Wednesday, including a company
office used as a cover-up for online gambling operation.
Mafia888 was a large network of over 40 websites with
hundreds of million baht in monthly circulation, police said.
A large quantity of gambling equipment, computers, Internet
equipment and bank account and IT equipment has been seized.(TNA)
