CHIANG MAI, Oct 21 (TNA) – The highest peak in Thailand, Doi Inthanon, is already feeling the nip of winter as temperatures drop.
The mountain is drawing in tourists eager to experience the first chill of the season and witness the magnificent sea of mist that blankets the landscape.
As the sun rises, casting its golden rays upon a delicate layer of fog, the mountain is transformed into a picturesque scene that marks the transition from the rainy to the dry season.
At an altitude of over 2,565 meters above sea level, Doi Inthanon in the northern province of Chiang Mai is adorned with lush greenery, vibrant mosses, and ferns that thrive in the cool, moist climate.
“The sea of fog is simply stunning, and the photos cannot capture its beauty. Watching the sunrise and seeing the mist roll in is truly magical, said,” said a visitor from the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima.
“Nature’s beauty is beyond words. The flood is over. The mountain is perfect for a visit now,” said another tourist from Bangkok.
While the summit offers panoramic views and a chance to explore the unique ecosystem, the Ang Ka Nature Trail provides a glimpse into a primeval forest. Towering trees, covered in a thick carpet of moss and ferns, create a serene and mystical atmosphere.
“This is the perfect time to visit Doi Inthanon. The forest is lush and the sea of mist is spectacular. And soon, the famous Doi Inthanon roses (Rhododendron) will be in bloom, said Sinjai Duangsitong, Assistant Head of Doi Inthanon National Park.
Doi Inthanon has consistently ranked among the top national parks in the country. With its captivating natural beauty and cooler temperatures, the mountain is expected to attract even more visitors this winter season.
On average, 2,000-3,000 tourists currently visit Doi Inthanon daily. The park welcomed over one million visitors over the past year, generating 125 million baht in revenue. -819 (TNA)
