PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, Dec 20 (TNA) – Another sailor of sunken HTMS Sukhothai was rescued and his condition was safe.
At 2.14pm HTMS Angthong found navy sailor Chananyu Kaengsriya floating in the sea south of the border between Prachuap Khiri Khan and Chumphon provinces. He was brought aboard the vessel safely.
VAdm Wichai Lorchusakul, commander of the First Naval Area Command, said waves were lower to about 2 meters today, so rescue missions were easier. He expected rescue teams would find more victims. The navy, the air force and relevant organizations fully mobilized their resources to search for missing navy sailors, he said.
On the second day of the search and rescue mission today, rescuers expanded search areas from the location of the sunken corvette and rescuers were put on standby so that they could rescue victims just when they were spotted. Small boats would be deployed to patrol the coast because waves were likely to bring victims to the shore, VAdm Wichai said. (TNA)
