BANGKOK, Nov 7 (TNA) – Justice Minister Somsak Thepsutin is looking for optional help for a fetus that died in the nursery massacre in Nong Bua Lam Phu province on Oct 6.
The minister said that financial compensation was paid to the cases of 36 victims on Oct 9 but that excluded the fetus case.
The eight-month fetus was in the womb of a teacher identified as “Pon” who was killed in the massacre at the nursery of the Uthai Sawan local administrative organization in Na Klang district on Oct 6. The fetus was not eligible for normal assistance for crime victims because it was not considered as being a person set, Mr Somsak said.
The minister said the government was concerned about the fetus case and he ordered the Rights and Liberties Protection Department to find optional assistance for the case.
“On Nov 15 a sub-committee handling appeals will meet and consider petitions for additional assistance for 25 affected people and the case of teacher Pon will also be considered,” Mr Somsak said.
Earlier the husband of teacher Pon filed his petition for compensation for the dead fetus. (TNA)
