PATTANI, July 24 (TNA) – Police and soldiers were hunting for suspects who killed four officers and injured two others in an attack with guns and grenades on a checkpoint in Kor Pilae village in Paka Harang sub-district of Muang district last night.
Authorities believed at least 10 insurgents launched the attack late last night to show off their potential and were hiding locally.
The Pattani governor ordered local authorities to step up and integrate security measures and adapt to changing strategies of insurgents.
The attacked checkpoint was normally manned by defense volunteers, paramilitary rangers and soldiers. The attack led to an exchange of gun fires for about 10 minutes before insurgents retreated into the village.
Dead and injured victims were sent to Pattani Hospital. (TNA)
