SURAT THANI, July 22 (TNA) – A Spanish tourist, who got lost
at a waterfall on Samui Island was found safe by a villager.
Deputy police spokesman Kritsana Pattanacharoen said Mr. Luis
Caverllo Orteta, 57 has been already rescued by a villager. He was now safe but
he had fatigue and is now resting at his hotel.
The tourist police was alerted last night when the Spanish
man called the emergency number, asking for help as he was lost near the Na
Muang waterfall.
About 50 officials tried to locate the tourist but darkness
and rain hindered the search attempt in slippery, steep and rocky terrain.
Two-hour search operation failed to find the tourist and was
called off at midnight for safety reasons.
The Spanish tourist came to Samui with his brother and friends. He left his
rented motorcycle at the entrance of the path to the waterfall and walked
uphill alone before he got lost and was stranded on the mountain. (TNA)
