BANGKOK, July 13 (TNA) – The Government Pharmaceutical Organisation (GPO) plans to grow a second lot of marijuana after cannabis oil, obtained from the first lot is in great demand for treating patients.
GPO director Dr. Witoon Danwibul said GPO has increased production of cannabis oil from 2,500 to 10,000 bottles and will distribute them to hospitals, which have received licenses in treating patients later this month and in August.
Cannabis oil will be used after patients do not respond positively to conventional treatments.
Plans to grow marijuana will be upgraded to the semi-industrial level in the second phase and the GPO will adopt the indoor and green house cannabis cultivation early next year.
It targets to increase production capacity of cannabis oil to around 150,000 – 200,000 bottles thereafter. (TNA)
