BANGKOK, 5 July (TNA) — The chairman of China Investment Corporation (CIC) expressed interest in infrastructure, energy and transport projects in Thailand.
CIC chairman Peng Chun shared the view when he called on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. He said that Thailand was an important country and had potential to become an investment center of Southeast Asia. He said he paid the visit to explore new investment opportunities in Thailand.
“The CIC chairman praised the Thailand 4.0 policy and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) scheme which significantly drive the Thai economy. He also expressed interest in possible investment in infrastructure, energy and transport projects in Thailand,” deputy government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak said.
Prime Minister Prayut told the CIC chairman that his government would push for Sino-Thai ties and comprehensive cooperation as strategic partners and the Thailand 4.0 policy responded to China’s Belt and Road Initiative, Lt Gen Werachon said.
On the occasion, Gen Prayut invited CIC to invest in the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation and the Digital Park Thailand in the EEC, the deputy government spokesman said. (TNA)
