BANGKOK, July 3 (TNA) – Thai authorities continue to
enforce the ban on pig and pork products from neighbouring countries to prevent
African swine fever from spreading into the country.
Nong Khai province on the Thai-Lao border has tightened
measures imposed since the deadly disease caused culling of pigs in Cambodia,
China, Laos and Vietnam.
A large quantity of pork products have been seized from many
travelers entering Thailand at border crossings via trains, cars and boats.
Those food products containing pork have been destroyed.
Nong Khai Governor Ronnachai Jitwiset revealed on Wednesday
that Laos’s livestock officials had requested Thailand for assistance on
disease control. In response to the
request, Thailand had shared knowledge on disease control and provided
disinfectant and equipment to Laos, he said.
Nong Khai and other provinces in the northeast have enforced
preventive measures in the wake of African swine fever outbreaks. Livestock and
animal quarantine offices instructed local administrative officials and pig
farms to observe disease prevention practices.

vehicles before entering Thailand.(TNA)
