BANGKOK, May 31 (TNA) – King Power Group won two bidding contests to operate both duty-free shopping and commercial areas at Suvarnabhumi airport.
In the morning King Power won a bidding contest for the duty-free shopping zone at the airport and in the afternoon successfully vied for another contract to operate commercial areas there.
Wichai Bunyu, vice president of Airports of Thailand Plc, said that King Power offered higher returns than AOT had received from old contracts and the proposed returns were also higher than what AOT expected from these bidding contests.
In the afternoon, King Power won over Central Pattana Plc. AOT’s revenue committee will consider the bidding results on June 12 and the AOT board is expected to approve the contracts on June 19.
King Power and Central Pattana were two contenders vying for commercial space at Suvarnabhumi airport. Two other companies: Minor International Plc and The Mall Group had also bought bidding documents but they did not tender their bids.
Two other bidders in the duty-free shop contest were the groups of Bangkok Airways and Royal Orchid Hotel (Thailand). (TNA)
