SONGKHLA, May 22 (TNA) – Over 20 illegal migrants from
Myanmar have been arrested in Thailand’s southern border province of Songkhla
while being transported to Malaysia.
A group of 14 undocumented migrants, nine males and five
females, were rounded up at a rented house in Bang Klam district, waiting for
transportation.
Police said among the migrants was a coordinator who worked
with traffickers to take the group to Malaysia.
All of them appeared extremely exhausted while being locked
inside the house.
The other group of seven migrants was found in a rubber
plantation in Sadao district. Without
any shelter, they laid and rested on their clothes and bags.
It is still unknown how these migrants illegally crossed
into Thailand but they possessed no travel documents. They have been taken for questioning,
pending deportation.(TNA)
