BANGKOK, May 22 (TNA) — Three large-scaled companies were bidding for a contract to operate duty-free shops at Suvarnabhumi airport while two other interested parties did not show up.
King Power Duty Free, Bangkok Airways and Royal Orchid Sheraton (Thailand) showed up to submit their technical bids with Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) in the morning.
Central Group and Minor International Co that had bought terms for the bidding contest did not turn up. AOT later announced the first three companies as qualified contenders.
Vitavas Vibhagul, chief executive of Grande Asset Hotels and Property Plc and executive of the Royal Orchid Sheraton group, said his group had experiences in property development and had a world-class partner from Britain that operated more than 600 duty-free shops worldwide.
AOT was also receiving bids for the development of commercial areas at Suvarnabhumi airport. Four parties earlier bought bidding terms. They were Central Pattana, King Power Suvarnabhumi, Minor International and The Mall Group. (TNA)
