BANGKOK, April 24 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has beautified the landscape along the royal procession route in the coronation ceremonies.
Silsuay Raweesangsul, BMA’s Permanent Secretary led officials to inspect readiness of the route for the royal procession by land.
His Majesty the King will ride in the royal palanquin in the procession of circumambulation around the city on May 5.
Road surface has been upgraded and the route has been decorated with flags and floral arches. Sewers were cleaned up.
Various flowers such as marigolds and orchids have been planted to beautify bridges and landmarks like the Democracy Monument.
The work will have been completed by the end of this month, she said.
Big Cleaning Day voluntary activities will be held by the BMA, the Interior Minister, the Royal Thai Armed Forces and the Metropolitan Police, starting on April 26 to wash and clean the areas along the seven-kilometre route.
The remaining work, she said includes improvement of lighting and the definition of CCTV camera image in some areas. (TNA)
