BANGKOK, April 23 (TNA) – Thailand pushes for e-commerce
growth with supports for technologies and online payment innovation.
The National Innovation Agency (NIA) and the Electronic
Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) on Tuesday announced their collaboration
in driving commerce enterprises and consumers towards online shopping
platforms.
As Thailand’s e-commerce market growth expected to grow to
Bt3.3 trillion his year, the two agencies vow, under an agreement signed on
Tuesday, to provide supports for e-commerce development for the public.
ETDA director-general Sarangkanang Wayupap said Thai
consumers’ behavior had been rapidly shifted to on-line shopping and digital
payments. E-commerce transactions this
year were on pace to jump to Bt3.3 trillion, up from Bt3.31 trillion last year,
she said.
The agreement also set up a plan to produce 1.2 million
online merchant and e-commerce manpower, the agencies said.
Thai young consumers are among the world’s top adopters of
mobile payments, representing 40 per cent of online shoppers in the
country. Thailand’s e-commerce campaign
is a part of the government’s ‘Thailand 4.0’ vision and its ‘National
e-Payments Master Plan.(TNA)
