BANGKOK, March 21 (TNA) – Key members of political parties
intensified vote campaigns, voicing a wide range of promises, ahead of the
general election on March 24.
Sereepisuth Temeeyaves, leader of the Thai Liberal Party,
delivered his campaign speech in Sung Noen district of Nakhon Ratchasima
province. He said his party received unexpectedly warm welcome from local
residents. He also said he was ready to become prime minister and he would not
work with a dictator. He promised to stop violence in the deep South, reform
the military, stop poverty, corruption and narcotic problems, and promote
national unity.
Laddawan Wongsriwong of the Pheu Thai Party campaigned in
Phayao province. There she said Wisut Chainaroon, Pheu Thai candidate for
Constituency 2, was facing persecution aimed at
disqualifying him but he remained as a candidate.
Sophon Saram of the Bhumjaithai Party held a campaign speech
at the central stadium of Kalasin province, emphasizing power decentralization,
economic solutions, a debt moratorium for students, and liberal marijuana
plantation.
Bundit Detruesee, candidate of the New Economics Party,
campaigned at Warorot market in Chiang Mai province. He promised his party
would make Thailand a hub of financial businesses and duty-free products and
would reform the national economy.
Also present there was Nathaporn Manojai, transgender
candidate of the Mahachon Party. He stressed policies for equality, legal
gender recognition for transgender people, legal registration for same-sex
marriages and legal sex services. (TNA)
