BANGKOK, March 2 (TNA) — The coalition Bhumjaithai Party is pushing for online work and study policies to cope with the escalating situations of smog and diseases.
Party spokesman Settapong Malisuwan said the problems of particulate matter 2.5 micrometers and less in diameter (PM2.5) and the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) became worse in many countries and had economic impacts especially in the countries that had not had a serious policy on online study and work.
The government and the private sector should allow work and study at home and promote the use of electric vehicles, he said.
“Thailand is one of the countries that have not seriously worked on such policies. The Bhumjaithai Party will actively push for them. People can work at home or at co-working space. This will reduce disease transmission risks and the economic impacts of workers taking leaves,” Mr Settapong said.
He said his party would push for free online education that would allow students to proceed with their study in times of crises but the Education Ministry had to certify online curricula so that students can apply for jobs especially in the government sector.
“It is time for the government to pay special attention to the policies and include the issue in national agenda because the crises of COVID-19 and PM2.5 can recur. Vision and preparation are extremely important,” Mr Settapong said. (TNA)
