BANGKOK, May 22 (TNA) – Natthaporn Toprayoon, a former advisor to the ombudsman, has petitioned the Election Commission (EC) to dissolve the Bhumjaithai Party, alleging its involvement in unlawful collusion during the recent Senate election.
Citing Section 92 of the Political Parties Act, Natthaporn claims the party’s actions undermine democratic governance and represent an undemocratic seizure of power, echoing a complaint filed with the Attorney-General on May 15.
Natthaporn asserts that compelling evidence, corroborated by investigations from both the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and the EC, indicates the Senate selection process was fundamentally undemocratic.
He contends that approximately 138 elected senators and 40 reserves are affiliated with Bhumjaithai, in violation of laws prohibiting political party interference in the Senate acquisition process.
He stated that official documents, including financial records, from the DSI and EC support his allegations of illegal assembly and election collusion.
Addressing concerns of political motivation, Natthaporn denied any ties to political factions or prominent figures, stating his actions are purely for the public’s benefit. -819 (TNA)
