BANGKOK, March 15 (TNA) – The Royal Thai Police Office has announced its readiness to secure and facilitate early voting nationwide on March 17.
Pol Col Krisana Patanacharoen, deputy spokesman of the Royal Thai Police Office, said the RTPO was working closely with the Office of the Election Commission to ensure safety and facilitate traffic at polling units, to accept electoral complaints and to suppress any violation to electoral laws on the early voting date as the EC expected a large turnout of voters then.
National police commissioner Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda assigned his deputy Pol Gen Srivara Ransibhramanakul to head police operations for the early voting. The RTPO would deploy rapid movement units and investigators and watch out for violations to electoral laws, Pol Col Krisana said.
He also said that the sales of alcoholic beverages were banned from 6pm on March 16 to 6pm on March 17 to pave the way for the early voting.
People could file election-related complaints with police at all police stations and police hotline numbers 191 and 1599 and with provincial election offices and the Election Commission’s phone numbers 02-141-8045-51 and 1444 ext 2. (TNA)
