BANGKOK, March 15 (TNA) – Election officials are gearing up
for early voting on Sunday when record number of voters is expected to cast
their ballots.
Prior to the March 24 general election, Thailand is holding
overseas voting from March 4-17 while advance voting in the country is
scheduled for Sunday.
In Bangkok, city officials and the Election Commission (EC)
have prepared polling stations for millions of early votes.
Among 30 constituencies, Bangkapi district has seen the
highest number of voters registered for early voting, 61,401. Officials have installed equipment, voters’
list and other information at two schools designated the district’s main
stations.
Fifty district offices in Bangkok are responsible for
balloting.
City Clerk Silapasuay Raweesaengsoon said all of the offices
had been well prepared but there was a concern over capacity at some polling
stations.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration had ordered all
district officials to facilitate voters and serve them with transparency.(TNA)
