BANGKOK, Feb 27 (TNA) – The secretary-general of the Election Commission (EC) is confident that all 2.6 million eligible voters who registered for early voting will exercise their right. He also said the Office of the EC delivered ballots for early voting outside the kingdom.
Charungwit Phumma, the secretary-general, said ballots for overseas voting were sent to the embassies and consulates-general where eligible voters registered for early voting.
He also said that the EC already asked the Royal Thai Police Office to facilitate traffic and ensure security for 385 polling units on the early voting date, March 17.
Mr Charungwit assured that the polling units would be convenient for all 2.6 million early voters. If they fail to show up on March 17, they cannot vote on the general polling date on March 24 and will lose some rights including the impeachment of local executives and councilors and application to run in the elections of heads of villages and sub-districts.
Mr Charungwit said the Office of the EC would send letters to the households of eligible voters from March 3 to provide information on candidates, political parties and their policies so that eligible voters could use for their decision. (TNA)
