PHATTALUNG, March 1 (TNA) – A vehicle with over 330
kilograms of kratom leaves has been found on a highway in Phattalung, southern
Thailand. Local police believed that the vehicle was abandoned by suspected
smugglers.
After receiving a call from a resident in Phattalung’s Pa
Bon district, police on Friday searched the sport utility vehicle on the Asian
Highway to find kratom leaves in 33 bags.
Police suspect that the driver feared of police checkpoint
and left the vehicle.
Inside the glove box was vehicle registration bearing the
name of the car owner who would be summoned by investigators.
Possession of kratom leaves is illegal in Thailand as it is
under Category 5 of the Narcotics Act. (TNA)
