KHON KAEN, Feb 8 (TNA) – Local authorities in Khon Kaen are spraying water in all 26 districts to reduce the PM2.5 particulate matter after the northeastern province has been hit by haze since yesterday.
According to the popular website airvisual.com, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Khon Kaen is 176 this morning with the PM 2.5 at 104 microgramme per cubic metre.
The province called on a meeting with operators of sugar factories, the Sugar Cane Farmer Association and officials from the forest fire control stations to discuss ways to prevent and solve the air pollution.
The problem is partly caused by burning sugar cane plantations and forest and exhaust fumes emissions from trucks.
In Kanchanaburi, soldiers and farmers used cutting machines to harvest fresh sugar canes in Laokwan district and called for farmers in the province to refrain from burning before the harvest to reduce air pollution.
The province has put in place measures to prevent and solve the dust, originated from burning at sugar cane plantations. (TNA)
