BANGKOK, Feb 6 (TNA) – Particulate matter with up to 2.5 microns in diameter (PM2.5) is at safe levels this morning, not exceeding 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air in the past 24 hours. Air quality is at good and very good levels.
The Environment Department of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) reported that the levels of PM2.5 did not exceed the safe threshold of 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air in Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Samut Sakhon and Samut Prakan provinces.
Air quality in greater Bangkok was at good and very good levels and fine dust was likely to drop steadily in the near future, the BMA said.
The Meteorological Department predicted stronger winds and rain in 10% of Bangkok.
Yesterday the cabinet acknowledged measures to curb PM2.5. They include the daily cleaning of public places, the tests of exhaust emissions from buses and trucks and the closure of 600 factories to improve their pollution control facilities. (TNA)
