BANGKOK, Feb 2 (TNA) – The Land Transport Department has ordered its officials to seriously take action against cars which emit black smoke in an attempt to contain current air pollution in Bangkok and surrounding provinces.
The department director-general Peeraphon Thawornsupacharoen said officials are now dispatched to inspect trucks and public buses heading to Bangkok from 15 provinces to curb harmful exhaust emission.
Mr. Peeraphon said officials are also now inspecting several districts in Bangkok which are currently confronting heavy smog and at bus terminals on a regular basis in order to combat the smog problem.
The general public is urged to send complaints on cars emitting black smoke, surpassing required standards to telephone number 1584. Legal actions will be taken against the car owners. (TNA)
