CHIANG MAI, Jan 29 (TNA) – Thais of Chinese descent are
preparing for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration and ancestral worship.
The assortment of mainstay food items such as meat and fruits
as well as worship sets for rituals are on high demands leading up to the
Chinese New Year Day on February 5.
To welcome the Year of the Pig, Chinese-Thais in Chiang Mai
have flocked to a major market in the northern city to find joss paper in the shapes
of cash and different material goods.
It is a Chinese practice to send money and all kinds of
goods to deceased relatives in the afterlife.
A shop owner said joss paper prices remained the same but
sales went up 60 percent.
China Town 2019 will be organised for Chinese New Year
celebration at Warorot Market in Chiang Mai city from February 4-6.
