BANGKOK, Jan 24 (TNA)- The Japan External Trade
Organization (JETRO) is conducting a survey on business sentiment among
Japanese investors in Thailand which so far shows high confidence in Thailand’s
mega project Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
Hiroki Mitsumata, JETRO president, met with Thai Deputy
Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam at Government House on Thursday.
JETRO had sent out questionnaires to 1,700 Japanese
investors in the kingdom and so far collected questionnaires from about 500 of
them to compile for the survey on business sentiment of Japanese corporations
in Thailand, Mitsumata told Wissanu.
“The response up to now showed that Japanese businesses are
satisfied with infrastructure development related to the EEC project,” Wissanu
told reporters.
EEC consists mainly of industrial estates, high-speed
railway, deep-sea port and airport in three eastern provinces of Chachoengsao,
Chon buri and Rayong.
The survey results reflected some problems that Thailand
needed to address and recommendations for better facilitations for foreign
investors, the deputy premier said.
Among top concerns were work permit and visa application
process, said Wissanu.
The Thai government viewed the survey as crucial indicator
guiding it to improve business environment and regulation, added Wissanu.(TNA)
