BANGKOK, Jan 21 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha positively acknowledged the World Bank’s findings on the strong Thai economy and its bright prospect in the next few years.
Government spokesman Buddhipongse Punnakanta said Gen Prayut was satisfied with the World Bank’s findings through its report: Thailand Economic Monitor: Inequality, Opportunity and Human Capital.
The report said that the Thai economy grew well in 2018 compared with the economies of neighboring countries and the economic growth resulted from local demand, the consumption and investment of the private sector, and government investment.
The World Bank also predicted that the Thai economy would remain strong in the next two years on government policies and consequently Thailand would be able to effectively cope with changes and global economic challenges, Mr Buddhipongse said.
He also said that the future economic growth would depend on the continuation of policies and the government had implemented important economic policies including new procurement and business facilitation laws, infrastructure development projects and educational and health service access for underprivileged children.
