BANGKOK, Jan 16 (TNA) – Eight Thai people have been arrested
for illegally running a gambling website i99bet.net with over Bt200 million
worth of transaction.
Cybercrime suppression unit of the Royal Thai Police
announced the crackdown of the website on Wednesday.
The group led by Kritaphob Chithamarat, 40, was brought to
the press conference, along with confiscated bank accounts and ATM cards.
The website which had been running for two years was
registered abroad, Immigration Bureau police chief Pol Lt-General Surachate
Hakpal said.
“They would lure gamblers to place their bets on the website
by indirectly adverting via online platforms,” he said.
More accomplices were being implicated while the gang’s
assets had been frozen, he added.(TNA)
