BANGKOK, Jan 16 (TNA) – The agriculture minister ordered more rainmaking flights to reduce air pollution as fine particulate matters still remained at unhealthy levels in many districts.
Grisada Boonrach, the minister of agriculture and cooperatives, said rainmaking effectively reduced hazardous dust in greater Bangkok and he ordered the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation to expand the effects of rainmaking especially in the eastern and western parts of Bangkok.
Surasee Kittimonthol, director-general of the department, said relative humidity was at about 70%, close to yesterday’s level, and rainmaking flights was deployed over Bang Pakong, Muang and Bang Nam Prieo districts of Chachoengsao province and Ongkharak district of Nakhon Nayok.
He hoped to expand rain from the eastern side to the western side of Bangkok, saying the western part was still covered densely with particulate matters.
The department deployed two CASA airplanes for rainmaking from 10.30am until the afternoon. (TNA)
