NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, Jan 3 (TNA) – Villagers, living along the coastal areas have been evacuated as tropical storm Pabuk will make landfall in Nakhon Si Thammarat tomorrow.
Strong gusty winds and high waves were seen this morning at Talumphuk cape, one of the high-risk areas. The cape was severely hit by tropical storm “Harriet” 57 years ago, in which more than 900 people were killed.
More than 200 households in the fishing villages there moved the elderly and children to the evacuation center at Ratchaprachanukroh school, that can accommodate 1,000 people.
Provincial authorities have prepared 190 evacuation centers to accommodate 86,000 people.
More scattered showers and a cloudy sky began in the province. All boats are banned from going out to the sea today. (TNA)
