NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, Dec 4 (TNA) — Torrential rain has prompted authorities in the southern province to temporarily close six waterfalls for safety.
Wikran Thuakao, chief of the Khao Luang National Park, closed Phromlok and Ai Khiao waterfalls in Phrom Khiri district, Karom waterfall in Lan Saka district, Tha Phae waterfall in Chang Klang district, Krung Ching waterfall in Nop Pitam district, and Nuea Fa waterfall in Phipun district as their flows were dangerously increasing. He also warned communities situated downstream of possible runoffs.
Meanwhile, soldiers from the Vajiravudh Camp of the 4th Army in Nakhon Si Thammarat provincial seat together with local community leaders in Thai Samphao sub-district were roaming on roads in local communities to warn residents to prepare themselves for possible disasters related to heavy downpours.
The sub-district is a low-lying area where there are many canals. The water levels of the canals were rising as much water from the Khao Luang National Park was flowing through the canals into the Gulf of Thailand. The 4th Army put its soldiers on standby for swift rescue in cases of flooding. (TNA)
