NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, Sept 13 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha visited the southern provinces of Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani and promised to bring prosperity to the region.
In the morning Gen Prayut arrived at Moo 1 village in Tha Rua sub-district of Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Muang district to inspect the construction of a sluice gate in the Tha Rua-Hua Trut canal. It is part of King Rama IX’s initiative to prevent flooding in the center of Nakhon Si Thammarat. He told local residents that the government would realize royal development projects in the South for people’s prosperity.
The flood prevention project for downtown Nakhon Si Thammarat involves the construction of three new water diversion canals, the dredging of two existing canals including Tha Rua-Hua Trut canal and seven sluice gates.
The three-year project was set for completion next year. The construction has been 44% done.
The prime minister reached Koh Samui island of Surat Thani in the afternoon. Among other activities, he opened the Samui Festival 2019 on at Chaweng beach. (TNA)
