BANGKOK, DEC 6 (TNA) – The Green Line rail extension running
between Bearing Station in Bangkok and Samut Prakan was opened on Thursday,
offering free rides for commuters for four months.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the opening
ceremony of the Green Line (Southern Expansion) project which is linking
Bearing in Bang Na District of Bangkok with Samut Prakan province.
The prime minister said before taking a test ride that the
Green Line extension was a New Year present for Thai people.
Under the plan, the Green Line’s southern extension connects
with BTS Sky Train that runs to the heart of Bangkok.
The 13-kilometer extension with nine stations will be on
test run period for four months before beginning commercial operation in April.
