GERMANY, Nov 29 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha met his German counterpart and German private sector during his first visit to Germany.
During his visit on Nov 27-29, Gen Prayut met German Chancellor Angela Merkel to underscore sustainable development partnership at the bilateral level particularly in vocational education and green technology.
Germany will be invited to become sustainable development partner under the frameworks of ACMECS and ASEAN, especially when Thailand will assume ASEAN chairmanship next year.
Gen Prayut also attended the Thai –German Business Forum: Asia-Europe partnership for the future and met executives of Germany’s leading firms, ie, Daimler AG, Dräxlmaier, BMW, Verband Deutsche Bahnindustrie (VDB) or the German Railway Industry Association.
He said Germany is Thailand’s important partnership. He hoped the two countries would have closer ties and strengthen partnership in various fields, particularly economic cooperation.
Germany is a leading country in technology and innovation and many Asian countries have measures for the rapid economic growth and have a large population with high purchasing power and demands for goods and service.
It is a good opportunity that Asia and Europe become economic allies and link trade and investment between the two regions.
One of his important mission is to build confidence among German investors to make investment in Thailand especially in the Eastern Economic corridor.
He met and had dinner with Thai and German private sector before returning to Thailand. The prime minister is scheduled to arrive in Bangkok at 1.30 pm today. (TNA)
