BANGKOK, Nov 21 (TNA) – The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is mapping out its manpower planning to recruit new staff after the cabinet’s approval.
After the manpower rate plan is finished, it will be submitted to the State Enterprise Policy Office and forwarded to the Cabinet for consideration.
Initially, the SRT needs about 8,000 positions in total to fill staffing shortages including mechanical engineers, train drivers, maintenance and train station staff, security guards and ticket inspectors.
More staff will be recruited for the double track railway projects nationwide.
The Cabinet approved the agency to hire more staff for the 2019 budget year to solve the long standing problem of manpower shortage.
It helps unlock the restriction of the Cabinet’s resolution in 1998, which allowed the agency to hire new employees at the rate of five per cent of the retirees each year. (TNA)
