BEIJING, Nov 7 (TNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak discussed Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor project with two key figures of the Chinese government.
Mr Somkid’s delegation met China’s First Vice Premier Han Zheng at the State Council’s headquarters Zhongnanhai. There Mr Han supported Mr Somkid’s proposal that both countries have economic cooperation through Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) and Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam-Thailand (CLMVT) groupings and Thailand be China’s trade gateway to other regions.
Mr Somkid’s delegation also met Chinese State Councillor Wang Yong. They approved the Comprehensive Framework on Enhancing Trade and Economic Partnership between the Thailand and China and had their commerce ministers sign the documents.
The partnership focuses on trade, industries, investment, science, technology, innovation, communications, financial affairs and regional economic cooperation. (TNA)
