BANGKOK. May 21 (TNA) – Athletes will receive the Covid-19 cash relief to be distributed in June.
The committee for rehabilitaion of people affected by Covid-19 approved to give cash relief for athletes the same as freelancers, earlier endorsed for the government’s assistance.
The Tourism and Sports Ministry is considering the budget of 182 million baht for athletes of 13 professional sports (badminton, bowling, football, snooker, tennis, golf, Sepak Takraw, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, car and motorcycle racing and Thai boxing )
Professional athletes and sport personnel, professional sport associations, professional sport clubs and promoters are eligible to receive the financial aid.
Meanwhile, the boxing committee plans to spend the budget of 79 million baht to help registered boxing personnel including boxers, trainers, referees, heads of boxing camps, boxer mangers, promoters and managers of boxing stadiums.
Each sport club and association will receive not over 500,000 baht and athletes will get 5,000 baht for three months. The total of 15,000 baht will be paid at one time.
Registered sport personnel will be verified by the Finance Ministry to avoid redundancy payment with other benefits, offered by the government to alleviate people’s hardship during the Covid-19 pandemic. (TNA)
