BANGKOK, April 21 (TNA) – Thailand recorded 19 new coronavirus cases, raising the total to 2,811 with one more death.
The daily rate of new infections in Thailand has continuously dropped and today’s tally is the lowest in more than a month.
Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration said on Tuesday that the death toll rose to 48.
The new coronavirus-related death was a 50-year-old male taxi driver, who was a cigarette smoker and had pre-existing condition of diabetes. He had a record of picking up passengers at the Lumpini boxing stadium, where cluster infections had been reported among visitors before the venue was closed.
The total recovery cases rose by 109 to 2,108 and 655 patients remain in hospitals.
Out of all new cases, 10 cases including seven in Bangkok were in close contact with earlier patients. One returnee, placed under the state quarantine in Bangkok was also among the new infections. (TNA)
