BANGKOK, April 14 (TNA) – Thailand reported 34 new Covid-19 infections, raising the total cases to 2,613 with one more death, bringing the toll to 41.
The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) spokesman, Taweesilp Visanuyothin told public members to remain careful after the number of the new cases in the past 24 hours slightly increased to34 from 28, recorded yesterday.
The total recovery cases rose to 1,405 while 1,167 Covid-19 patients are being treated in hospitals.
The new death was a 52-year-old female bus driver of the state-run Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA). She had pre-exisitng health conditions of hypertension and an enlarged heart. She had joined a social gathering with friends, one of whom was later found to be infected with Covid-19. Ten persons in the group became confirmed cluster infection cases.
New cases fell into two groups. The first group comprised 33 patients from surveillance and service sectors. They included 27 people in close contact with previous patients.
Other patients in this group included two Thai returnees from Italy and Malaysia, a visitor to crowded places, and a person working in a crowded place.
The second group comprised one returnee from Indonesia who was brought to state quarantine facilities. Two cases are under investigation. (TNA)
