BANGKOK, April 13 (TNA) — The National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) convened private advisers to the government’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration and asked them to quickly study economic rehabilitation measures related to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
After the meeting, NESDC secretary-general Tossaporn Sirisamphan said the private sector made many proposals on economic rehabilitation, so the council asked the advisers to categorize the proposals for consideration next week.
The advisors were divided into five groups and their categorized proposals would be forwarded to the cabinet as soon as possible.
The first group comprises representatives of the Thai Bankers’ Association, the Office of Industrial Economics and the Bank of Thailand. They will consider measures relating to soft loans.
The second group will work out measures for business resumption. The Thai Chamber of Commerce is responsible for the proposals of the group.
The third group consists of the Federation of Thai Industries, the Thai Association of Small and Medium Entrepreneurs, the Federation of Thai SMEs, the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion, the Industry Ministry and the Commerce Ministry. They will come up with measures to support small and medium-sized enterprises.
The fourth group will compile measures for the agricultural sector. It gathers representatives from the National Farmers Council, the Industry Ministry and the Commerce Ministry.
The fifth group will propose digital solutions. The Digital Council of Thailand is tasked with gathering the solutions. (TNA)
