BANGKOK, Feb 21 (TNA) — Twenty-one Thai crew members on cruise ship Diamond Princess docked off Yokohama in Japan must undergo their second test for the new coronavirus (COVID-19) starting tomorrow.
If they test negative, they will be allowed to disembark, according to the Foreign Ministry.
Cherdkiat Atthakor, spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, quoted the Thai embassy in Tokyo as reporting that the second round of tests was compulsory for all crew members aboard the ship including Thais.
The second checkup was set to start on Feb 21. The spokesman said the individual test schedules of crew members depended on their responsibilities on the ship.
The repeated test would ensure confidence in the health of the crew. If they prove to be free of the disease, they will be allowed to disembark. The operator of the ship will pay for crew members’ flights back home, Mr Cherdkiat said. (TNA)
