BANGKOK, Feb 20 (TNA) – Prime Minister Gen. Prayut
Chan-ocha takes precaution against Covid-19, ordering response plans to be
mapped out in case the situation on the virus alert in the country is raised to
Level 3.
During a meeting on preparation and prevention of
emerging diseases at Government House on Thursday, Gen. Prayut said that Thailand’s
preventive measures against the deadly virus are effective enough to maintain
the epidemic alert at Level2.
However, the country will prepare response plans for
the risk alert Level 3, so it can be implemented immediately if the situation
gets worse.
Treatments of Covid-19 patients by Thai doctors are
widely accepted internationally and preventive measures are in line with the
international standard, said Sukhum Kanchanapimai, the Ministry of
Public Health’s permanent secretary.
Regarding the shortage of face masks, Boonyarit
Kalayanamit, the commerce permanent secretary said the ministry is tackling the
problem, urging companies to produce face masks at full capacity around the
clock to meet surging demand. It talked to retailers to distribute face masks
to convenience stores and department stores across the country for selling at 2.50 apiece. Sales are limited to four pieces per person, he
added. (TNA)
