SONGKHLA, Jan 30 (TNA) – Thai authorities have launched
health campaigns on novel coronavirus to raise awareness among local people and
foreign tourists.
The Disease Control Office of Hat Yai in the southern
province of Songkhla and army personnel handed out facemasks to people at a
market and advised them how to protect themselves from virus infections.
Health officials recommended people, especially those with
respiratory problems and young children, to wear face masks.
In Samut Songkram province, provincial public health
officials also handed out leaflets containing essential information on Wuhan
coronavirus outbreak.
Head of Samut Songkram Public Heath Office Dr. Santit Boonyasong
said the province had popular tourist spots with many Chinese tourists, but
there had been no cases of coronavirus infection.
Thailand tourism industry has been hit hard by the virus
causing tour cancellations and suspensions of tour services with an estimated
loss of over THB10 billion baht across the country.(TNA)
