BANGKOK, August 14 (TNA) – Thailand on Friday reported 17 new coronavirus cases, the highest in 70 days, but all are imported infections found in quarantine centres.
According to the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 3,376 with 145 active cases in hospitals.
The daily number of cases jumped to the highest in 70 days after Thai citizens returning from overseas were tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, 15 from India and one each from the US and Australia.
These new patients were placed under the mandatory quarantine when they were tested for the virus.
Thailand has no domestically-transmitted coronavirus case for more than 80 years. (TNA)
